April 2022 Wrap Up: Vegas, True Crime, & Freebies

April showers bring May flowers! May is just a couple of days away and I can tell you that I am looking forward to some better weather here in BC! I also have some plants that I’m really hoping I don’t kill lol. I am growing cherry tomatoes (yay) and I have some pretty flowers going (not sure what they are because my mom gave them to me but so far they are surviving). It’s no secret that I don’t have a green thumb. My mom keeps giving me flowers and plants and they keep dying but I think that just shows she believes in me?? Maybe lol.

I hope your month has been a good one. Tell me all about it in the comments below. I love hearing how you guys are doing!! So, without further ado, let’s jump into the wrap up!

What was good in April:

The most exciting part of April was getting to go on the first vacation I’ve been on in YEARS! It was maybe 2015 when I last went on an airplane haha so going to VEGAS was so fun! Nick and I had a great time. We ate sooo much yummy food (Gordan Ramsay’s Burger Bar was our fav) and of course, lots of drinks. We stayed at Planet Hollywood which was pretty nice but the Bellagio was definitely my favourite hotel (we just visited). I was also very proud of myself because I was super nervous to be on an airplane, especially because my anxiety has been higher than ever the last year, but I did so well!

What I read in April:

There was less reading than usual this month but that’s okay! I still managed to read 5 books and overall those books were great. This brings my yearly reading goal up to 27/50!

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead – This book brought me back to the feelings I got when I first read the Divergent books, Twilight, The Hunger Games, etc. It was just so freaking fun and I’m so invested in the Vampire school and world! Is it a YA vampire book? Yes. Do I love it? YES!

Frostbite (VA #2) by Richelle Mead – Book 2 of Vampire Academy! Loved it. The characters were developed more in this one and the romance really started to pick up which I’m all for. I am team Dimitri so far!

Six Days In Rome by Francesca Giacco – I was sent this book by the publisher (thanks!). It really wasn’t my fav. It’s simply not my kind of book but if you enjoy literary fiction this may work for you. It’s about a woman who recently went through a messy breakup and travels to Rome for six days. She reflects on her life, family, and past romance while there. I struggled with this because there was no plot… but I know others love these types of books!

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alex E. Harrow – Wow is all I can really say about this! I listened to it on audio and at first, I was a little confused but once it got going… loved it!! Such an interesting story about different worlds, magic, and greedy people who think they can control everything (including power beyond their imaginations).

Starry Eyed Love by Helena Hunting – SO CUTE! Sort of a meet cute romance. The main character meets a guy at a bar who asks her out on a date. She says no and goes on her way. Months pass and her business is offered a really sweet deal to work with a massive company. She arrives at the meeting to find out the company’s CEO is the guy she turned down at the bar!

What I’ve been eating:

April was a month of the bare minimum when it came to food. I felt so off my game with meal planning and stuff but we still managed to have some good meals throughout. One of my all-time favourite breakfast meals (or any time meal really lol) is eggs benny! So yummy 🙂

I also made a smoothie from my must try smoothie blog post! If you like beets you should definitely try it. Honestly, even if you don’t like beets you should try it because you can hardly taste them and it was sooo good. Such a pretty color thanks to the beets, easy to make, and packed with nutrients!

What I’ve been watching:

I have been into true crime lately which is a little unlike me. I came across the show Catching Killers on Netflix and became totally addicted. I find the investigation piece so interesting when it comes to crime. Highly recommend Catching Killers if you like true crime. Such a well put together show that is interesting but not super gruesome and scary haha.

I also finally watched Spider-Man: No Way Home. Can we talk about a freaking heartbreaker?!?! Overall, I loved the movie. Nick and I are big Marvel fans so there was no surprise there but I did not expect the ending, my god. If you’ve seen it you know what I’m talking about.

What I worked on:

This month a really big to-do for me was creating a freebie that is permanently displayed on my blog and something I can promote on an ongoing basis. I have done a freebie to go along with a specific blog post (spring cleaning your closet) but I wanted something that would be more timeless! Andddd, I got it done!

I have also been working on my health. I signed up for Beachbody which has been something I’ve wanted to do for quite some time but just never did it. If you follow along with me on Instagram then you probably know I’ve been doing a lot of YouTube home workouts lately. It felt like the next step was to join an actual program so I can be more accountable. So far I’m LOVING it!

Products & items I’m loving:

Sometimes the small things make life more enjoyable. I have been trying so hard to improve my morning and night routine. I hate to admit but I was (and still am at times) horrible at washing my make up off at the end of the day. But I have been using Neutrogena’s Deep Clean Face Scrub and it’s lovely.

I also recently picked up a Bic 4 color pen and became obsessed with it haha. The planner and organizer in me just couldn’t resist. I was going to order one on Amazon for Nick because he wanted one and then found other kinds?! Like pens that are different colors (instead of the typical blue one) and with different ink options (like pastel colors)! So fun!

What I’m looking forward to:

You always need something to look forward to and I have discovered that it’s important to look forward to the big and small things. There won’t always be a vacation to look forward to or some big event. But there is always SOMETHING going on that you can work towards and get excited about.

I am really looking forward to rebranding my Etsy shop. I spoke about my rebrand and pivoting in this blog post and I have been working on it when I have free time. I’m not 100% sure when the rebrand will be finished but I’m hoping soon!

I am also looking forward to continuing my fitness journey. As I mentioned above, I joined Beachbody. I can’t wait to pick my next program. I’m only week 2 into my current 4-week program but hey, it’s good to be excited hah!

Wrapping it up:

Overall, it was another fast month. I am really feeling ready for summer. We got a little bit of a glimpse at some nice weather lately but it seems like it’s back to rain. I would very much like some warm sunshine. Soon enough though!

I have been working on a little side project which is creating my own planner (for my own use). It has been fun creating something that is 100% tailored to me. I think it will be an ongoing project for a while but I’m hoping it will help me be a little more focused when it comes to content creation! I’ll keep you updated as I go along!
