April 2024 Recap: TTPD, I Need Glasses, & Patreon Success

Really hoping all the April showers bring May flowers… and I mean that both literally and figuratively. April actually brought some beautiful sunny days but then she was like nah, let’s rain for the foreseeable future. I also feel like my brain has been a little gloomy this month. Hoping that I break out of the gloom and into the sun in May 🤞🏻

As per usual, a new month feels exciting. It’s a fresh start!

I really enjoy writing these wrap-up posts. They really are just a way for me to document my life and keep up with my goals but the fact that you guys like them too is icing on the cake!

So, let’s dive in and chat about April 🙂

How was April overall?

April was a decent month! It wasn’t too busy but it wasn’t boring. I would rate it 7/10.

I have been plugging away at work. I’m definitely getting tired lol social work is no joke and with so many needs in the community and lack of staff, it’s freaking busy! I do have some time off in May so I’m really looking forward to that.

Nick and I got into biking as well. I haven’t been on a bike since I was like 10 years old lol so I had to relearn. We’ve been loving them!!

April was the month I finally booked an eye appointment lol have been meaning to do it for the last year but kept putting it off. And guess who needs glasses? Me 🙋🏼‍♀️ honestly, I knew I was going to need them because my eyes have been getting a bit blurry lately. The doctor was like “Do you have trouble driving at night and in the rain?” I was like actually, yes, I do lol. She is hopeful if I wear the glasses I can actually correct my eye sight but either way, it’s all good. Picked out some cute glasses and hoping I rock them 🙂

It was of course also the month of The Tortured Poets Department!! Swifties where you at?? Midnights is still my favorite album but I have thoroughly enjoyed TTPD. My top songs are:

  • Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?
  • I Can Do It With a Broken Heart
  • Fortnight
  • Down Bad
  • The Bolter
  • The Black Dog
  • thanK you aIMee

Please share your TTPD thoughts in the comments!

Email subscribers: I am at 605 subscribers. I really need to go through them and remove some lol I keep saying this!! Someone hold me accountable for this lol.

April favourites

Favourite Amazon purchase: E.L.F Halo Glow Highlight Beauty Wand. It’s honestly really pretty and so shimmery. I love it!

Favourite candle: I won an Instagram giveaway and got the most amazing smelling candle. Check out The Candle Cottage and grab the Apple Orchard candle.

Sweatiest YouTube workout: This 30 Minute Lower Body Dumbbell Strength Workout [EMOM Style] from Juice and Toya fucked me up for days lol

Favourite book: Practice Makes Perfect was such a cute and fun read.

Best TV show: We watched all of Fallout on Amazon Prime. I don’t know anything about the video game but I really liked the show!

What I read in April

Let’s chat books because I love reading!!

Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams: this was the Patreon book club pick for April! I really loved it. A fake dating romance set in a small town. We did a full discussion of this book on Patreon!! (If you want to join the book club you can do that here).

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas: still working my way through the Throne of Glass series. I was not 100% sure about this one since it’s centered around Chaol but I honestly loved it. He has redeemed himself in my opinion!!

The Medici Manuscript by CJ Archer: book 2 on the Glass Library. It was a fun read but not as good as the first. It follows the crew searching for a stolen manuscript which takes them on a bit of a journey plus the MC starts learning a bit more about her family mystery!

Life By Deanna highlights

The biggest highlight is a successful first month of the Growing Gals Membership on Patreon!

I’m also so happy about the book club. Only a few people are in it currently but it’s super fun chatting books with them!

I’ve also been connecting with other creators behind the scenes to collaborate so I’m excited to see what comes of that. Always looking for guest posts as well so if you’d like to do that send me an email 🙂

The plan for May

I have been working hard on being active during April so I want to keep that going. I also have some plans for eating healthier (mostly focusing on my snacking because that’s what I struggle with the most).

As for the blog, I really need to finish the blogging course I bought back in January. I’m more than half way through but I need to sit down and just finish it. I also have a Pinterest course I’d like to take so maybe I can start that in May!

Believe in yourself, bestie

Success doesn’t happen overnight. In all honesty, it takes a lot of time and hard work. Sometimes the time that passes feels so freaking long and you may question if your hard work is even doing anything.

Take a deep breath and believe in yourself. Believe that the work you are doing is making a difference. Believe in the small progress!

I have been questioning my own progress lately but I do believe in myself. I know the work I’m doing is amounting to something and I KNOW I am capable of success.

I hope you can feel the same about yourself no matter what your goals are. You are doing great! One step at a time!

Until next time,

Deanna
