August 2022 Recap: This Is The Season Of Change

August slipped away into a moment in time, cause it was never mine – Taylor Swift

Where are my swifties at? Can’t possibly go through August without quoting the queen lol 👑

August was overall a pretty average month. Nothing major stands out to me. This has been a month of falling out of my routines a little bit which happens now and then. I have been really good with my workouts but lately, they have been slacking. I think my body needed a break and I didn’t listen until I was forced to take a break, ya know?

If I had to describe August in a few words it would be slowing down and re-evaluating. I have definitely been slowing down this month… I’ve just been so tired. There is something about the darker mornings and cooler nights that make me want to rest. I just need a change!

It’s also been a time of looking at my habits, routines, hopes, dreams, etc. and seeing what feels right for me. I’ve taken a bit of a step back from social media just to see what I really want moving forward. Its actually been really nice to just care less about numbers and algorithms and just focus on feelings!

Anyways, lets jump into the rest of the monthly wrap up, friends!

What was good in August:

There wasn’t one major thing that was good… it was a month of little things! All the fun date nights with Nick, beach days, seeing some growth on my blog, Luna’s birthday. There were so many small moments that were positive!

I feel like as much as I have been tired and the month was slower, its important to acknowledge the good (even if it was just small things).

What I read in August:

I’ve been reading 4 or 5 books pretty much every month so I’m really happy with that! My yearly total so far is 43! So close to my goal of 50! Lets chat about what I read…

Booked on a Feeling by Jayci Lee – A cute friends to lovers romance set in a small town bookshop!

Book Lovers by Emily Henry – Enemies to lovers book romance! Book agent and book editor find themselves in an unlikely situation in a small town.

Influencer: Building Your Personal Brand in the Age of Social Media by Brittany Hennessey – a non-fiction book sharing some really great info about building your own brand and being an influencer.

Lucy Checks In by Dee Ernst – 40 year old Lucy travels to France to help a super old hotel find life again and finds unexpected love along the way

What I’ve been eating:

We tried out a new restaurant this month! Food by Fanta is a super cute and trendy restaurant in Langley, BC. We had the yummiest dumplings. Would highly recommend them! Oh also, they had a flight of sangria which was so good. I would honestly go back for the sangria and dumplings alone haha.

What I’ve been watching:

August has really been the month of YouTube for me. I haven’t watched much TV at all… me and Nick finished the entire Trailer Park Boys series and haven’t really found something else to watch yet. Any suggestions??

What I worked on:

I finally finished the resource page!! So happy I got that done. I’m now working on a new freebie (it’s going to be a big one). Hoping to get that completed by the end of September!

I also wrote another guest post!! This time it was for a different blog (you can read it here). I’m trying to branch out to other bloggers. So, if you are ever interested in having a guest blogger or would like to chat about guest blogging, let me know!

Products & items I’m loving:

I really haven’t done a ton of shopping lately… most recently I picked up a tier tray from Home Sense that I really like! It was like $20 so cannot go wrong. I am using it for my birthday party to make a doughnut tier tray!

What I’m looking forward to:

The biggest thing I’m looking forward to in September is my birthday!! It’s only a couple of days into September so the wait is not long lol. I am heading to a concert and then having a little get-together. It’s going to be a great time.

I also have something new in the works… I won’t tell you much but will say, it has to do with writing! More info to come in the next couple weeks 🙂

Wrapping it up:

This was on the shorter side but hey, not every month is crazy exciting with lots to share and that’s okay! I feel like its easy to get sucked into believing that other peoples lives are so interesting but really they are just showing the highlights.

Everyone has good days and bad days. However, not many people share the bad days. So, if you feel like your life is less exciting than someone else’s just remember that YOU are the only person that matters.

Create a life you love living and don’t worry about the rest!
