June 2022 Wrap Up: Making Pizzas, Being Social, & Recent Reads

Half the year is gone! July is upon us and June is left in the dust. Where the heck is the time going?
This month has been a little wild for a few reasons but mostly because I’ve been feeling frazzled. I recently did a goal check in and while some of the goals are on track others are definitely not and I won’t lie, it’s been hard to deal with that. It’s discouraging when you aren’t making progress with your goals. However, I am trying to take it as a sign that it’s time to SHIFT and start making time for some of those goals that are falling behind.
My little Luna girl (my cat if you are new here) got a little sick a few weeks ago! She gave me quite the scare but appears to be feeling better. Poor girl had to get a blood test and hooked up to an IV for fluids. So thankful she is okay though!
As for the rest of the month, life has been a lot of the same old stuff! So, let’s jump into the wrap-up and chat about what’s been happening, what I’ve been reading, and some of my favorite things!

What was good in June:
June has been a month of playing keep up. I’ve been busy but not crazy busy… mostly just busy enough to throw me off my routine and have me feeling like I’m behind.
Looking through my photos this past month I am always surprised by how little I take pictures lol. Being a blogger I need to work on that for sure!
Nick and I went to a friend’s engagement party towards the end of June and it was lots of fun. We also did something pretty big and exciting… we booked the venue for our wedding!! Yay! Lots more wedding stuff to come as we start planning 🙂
What I read in June:
The Pure World Comes by Rami Ungar – A spooky mix of horror, fantasy, and historical fiction!
The True Love Bookshop by Annie Rains – Such a cute second chance romance/ meet cute style story set in a bookshop and featuring a handsome private investigator!
It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey – Tessa Bailey is the queen of cute but spicy romance. This follows Poppy, an IG influencer, who gets shipped off to a small fishing town and finds unexpected love.
This Vicious Grace by Emily Thiede – YA fantasy that was a fun read. Alessa has powers from the Gods but she keeps accidentally killing her suitors with that same power. Is she good or is she evil? The local priest tries to turn the whole town against her.
The German Wife by Kelly Rimmer – A heartbreaking story about a German family who gets sucked into the Nazi party during WW2 and the horrors that came with that. Dual timeline story with great perspective.
What I’ve been eating:
The most exciting food this month has been homemade pizzas! We got a small pizza oven and have been getting pizza kits from a local store. We are still learning so they aren’t totally perfect yet but hey, they are still yummy!
As for restaurant food, I had a few good meals:
- My fav spinach dip from Earls
- A pile of pasta so big I couldn’t possibly finish from Adrian’s at the Airport
- The yummiest gelato from Maria’s Gelato in Fort Langley

What I’ve been watching:
Nick and I started watching Trailer Park Boys lol pretty silly and funny. A good casual show to watch. I also saw the new Top Gun in theatres! Loved it sooo much. Hellloooo Miles Turner 😍
What I worked on:
As I mentioned before this month has been just a game of keep up. I don’t think I really worked on anything in a productive manner. I am still trying to finish the resources page for the blog but no progress was made this past month. I’m hoping with a better plan in place I will be able to finish it this month!
Products & items I’m loving:
I just treated myself to a few items from Shein! I haven’t done that in a while but I figured it was time to get a few new summer items and I was not disappointed! Some other faves I’ve had recently:
Pizza Oven – Nick and I purchased a small pizza oven to put on the patio and let me tell you… IT’S AWESOME! We have turned out patio into a little Italy making all sorts of amazing pizzas. If you have a little extra money and want to treat yourself to a fun gift this is it!! It’s so easy to use and small enough that you can store it easily.
Pizza Peel – To go along with your new pizza oven you will need a pizza peel (it’s just the giant flipper looking thing that puts the pizza in and out of the pizza oven). It’s definitely a necessity.
Scrunchies – loving scrunchies lately and these are some really nice satin ones!
Itch relief patches – with summer comes bugs and this girl gets eaten alive by mosquitoes. Without some sort of itch relief, I would die (literally have a big swollen mosquito bite right now lol). These are great items to have in your first aid kit or just in your purse. These are also great for the kiddos!
Waterproof dry bag – Nick and I are big water people in the summer. We love the beach and taking out the sea-doos so it’s really handy to have a dry bag. Nothing worse than packing a lunch and then finding it soaking wet!!
What I’m looking forward to:
July is going to be a fun one with two trips coming up! We are going for a short trip over Canada Day long weekend (July 1) and then going away later in the month to Kelowna! Looking forward to time off work and getting to spend time with my family. Also, cannot wait for all the poolside reading, wineries, and sea-dooing on the lake!
Wrapping it up:
June has been a month of being social with friends and getting outside more! When the weather changes it always lifts my mood. I find the sunshine makes me happier and also makes me want to be more active. Normally I wake up around 5am for work and it’s becoming SO MUCH easier now that the sun is already up then! Loving it 🙂

I hope you all had a great June and would love to hear about your highlights! What did you eat? Read any good books? Did you buy any new products that you love? Share it all down in the comments! ❤

I spent more time playing board games and outdoor games with my family.
That sounds like a lot of fun!
Yes I can’t believe half the year has gone already! The older I get the faster it seems to get. I definitely need to eat less carbs this half though lol!
Hahaha love that. Those carbs sneak up on ya haha
